Back in 1999, Steve Goss was running a small business but, after seeing amazing results from applying Neil Anderson's Biblical principles, had a bizarre feeling that he should be involved in opening an office for Freedom In Christ Ministries in the UK. However, every door he tried seemed to close firmly in his face. Then he got word that Neil Anderson had accepted an invitation from Greyfriars Church in Reading - where Steve was living! - to do a conference, his first one in the UK for 7 years, and Steve got to meet him face-to-face. The rest, as they say, is history.
Those ten years have seen the ministry have a significant impact, most notably in the last 4 years with the launch of the Freedom In Christ Discipleship Course that has been used by well over 100,000 people.
Neil Anderson presented a tenth anniversary plaque to the UK Ministry at the recent international meeting in Interlaken (pictured above with Steve and Zoe Goss).
The board of the ministry sense that the Lord wants to use this tenth anniversary year not only to celebrate what has been done, but to lay the foundation for significant growth. Specifically, they want to use the year to raise funds to enable Steve and Zoe Goss to be released from hands-on running of the ministry into a wider role where they can spend much more time encouraging individual church leaders, helping establish offices overseas and developing new resources.
2009 will see the release of Freedom In Christ For Young People, developed jointly with Youth For Christ. Work will also commence on a follow-up course to the main Discipleship Course.
The focus of the year's celebrations will be May 6 when, for one day, Neil Anderson and Steve Goss will be back at Greyfriars Church, Reading. In the daytime they will be running a conference for leaders which will pose the question, "How can we prevent new Christians from falling away?" In the evening there will be a celebration open to all. Full details will be available by the end of January.
