• 2 million people struggling with Long covid and approximately 700,000 of them are now unable to work (Office for National Statistics)

Chronic illness affects a huge section of society and can mean that members of our churches are struggling or unable to attend church at all. But how do we respond to them? Furthermore how can we help and disciple them especially if they are no longer able to attend church and are too sick to socially mix?  In this talk Jess Regnart will draw on her experience of living with four health conditions, together with years of experience in ministering to those who battle chronic illness. She will share what effective discipleship can look like amongst those who face debilitating illness with no earthly cure. Her heart is to see leaders feel empowered and equipped to respond to the needs of those who struggle without becoming burnt out themselves. 

Jess Regnart joined the Freedom in Christ UK teaching team 19 years ago before completing her theology degree. She went on to join Freedom in Christ UK 10 years ago to co-write and co-present 'Disciple' our course for 18-30 year olds. 8 years ago Jess contracted Lyme Disease but has continued to work with Freedom in Christ throughout her health journey and is currently the UK Director for Resources and co-ordinates training produced for practitioners in Freedom in Christ International. A motivational and inspiring teacher Jess is sought out by patient support groups and christian organisations to teach and although her health prevents her teaching at live events she still teaches online to great effect.
