Paul Travis, co-author with Neil Anderson of Breaking The Bondage Of Legalism, is visiting the UK for the first time in May 2006. He will be running conferences in Northern Ireland (5-6 May) and Berkshire (12-13 May).
Hear how the death of his wife took this pastor steeped in legalistic thinking to a place where he was no longer in control and how the Lord helped him climb out of drivenness, shame and guilt-ridden living. Paul says, “I had always performed well. Driven to work hard for God, I had accomplished many things in my ministry. I had to do right, look right, be right – only then did I believe I would be all right. But I was wrong.”
Event description:
We all know (in our heads at least) that we serve a God of grace who has set us free from shame, guilt, condemnation and the need to follow rules and regulations. Yet it’s amazing how much legalistic thinking we have picked up along the way and how, often unconsciously, it leads us to think that we need to perform better, try to earn our way to acceptance, and put too much emphasis on rules and regulations. Whatever happened to our joy!
In this event, Paul Travis uncovers the roots of legalism and leads us to freedom from legalistic thinking. Move away from the last vestiges of stale performance-focused religion, to the rich abundant life that Jesus died to give us. Know real intimacy with the Father and know Jesus as your Friend.
Better still, be equipped to help others escape the same trap.
