An overview of each session
Optional Introduction | Transforming Health
This is an optional session that serves as a gentle introduction to the main sessions. It is about half as long as a standard session, and introduces the course and the presenters of the videos.
Session 1 | Created for a purpose
Good physical health is not an end in itself but a means to help us be and do all that God intends for us as fruitful disciples of Jesus. We need a biblical worldview in order to get a complete answer about health, wholeness and fruitfulness - and that means looking at the whole person: spirit, mind and body. Lasting healing comes by uncovering the root cause of a particular issue, and resolving it.
Session 2 | Spiritually Alive
This session will help participants understand the benefits that come from having our spirits connected to God’s Spirit, become aware of some dangers that might prevent us experiencing those benefits in our day-to-day lives, and learn how to remove any influence the enemy might have gained in us through past sin.
Session 3 | Sound Mind
This session will help participants understand what the “flesh” is and how it works; that difficult circumstances in the present are not in themselves the problem – it’s how we perceive them; that traumatic events from the past are not in themselves the problem – it’s the lies they caused us to believe. They'll also learn how to take every thought captive; and to renew their mind to God’s Word, which is what will bring about lasting transformation.
Session 4 | Healthy Emotions
This session will help participants understand why God gave us emotions and how we can, over time, change negative emotions into positive ones and to appreciate why God commands us to forgive others.
Session 5 | Free To Choose
This session will help participants understand the importance God puts on free will, the consequences of our choices and that God delights in those who obey Him because they choose to rather than out of any sense of compulsion. Although we have been set free from slavery to sin, we can choose to return to slavery by letting sin “master” us, but the Biblical principles of “Truth, Turning, and Transformation” taught on this course can enable any Christian to resolve addictive sin issues.
Session 6 | Living sacrifice
Living as effective, fruitful disciples in physical bodies that are gradually decaying is tough! But even though our physical bodies are just temporary accommodation for our time on earth, we need to take good care of them because God created them; they are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and they enable us to do the things God has prepared for us to do.
Session 7 | To die is gain
This session will help us bring our thinking into line with God’s truth on the subjects of anxiety, fear, and death, so that we can live as fruitful disciples..
Session 8 | Will God heal me?
This session will help us gain a truly biblical perspective on what it means to be truly whole, and an understanding of how to approach health issues that arise in our lives.
The Steps To Healing & Wholeness
The Steps To Healing And Wholeness is the ministry component of Keys To Health, Wholeness, And Fruitfulness, and will help you put into practice the principles that have been taught throughout the course. They will help you bring your thinking about health in line with God’s Word;
address a particular health issue from a spirit-mind-body perspective; take some time to offer yourself to God as a living sacrifice and commit to being the person He is calling you to be, doing the things He has prepared in advance for you to do.
Optional Session | Any Questions?
This session was not in the original plan but was an idea that arose during the filming of the main sessions. Members of the studio audience were invited to submit questions that had arisen as they went through the course and, in this impromptu session, Steve, Ifeoma, and Mary do their best to answer them. It’s a great way to round off the course!
Meet the presenters
Dr Mary Wren is the main inspiration for Keys To Health, Wholeness, & Fruitfulness. She wanted to be a doctor from the age of 10 and studied medicine in Sheffield in the North of England. While she was a student, she had a series of illnesses during which she started to learn how to seek God for help and wisdom as well as seeking medical help. For each new situation she has sought God for “keys” to unlock the answers. She works at Sheffield University Health Service as one of the doctors for 35,000 university students. She wrote a weekly column for a newspaper and loves the detective work of medicine – getting to the root of the problem be it physical, emotional, or spiritual – and sees herself as a bridge between medicine and the Church.
Steve Goss passionately believes that a community of committed, fruitful disciples of Jesus can transform a nation. He and his wife Zoë founded Freedom In Christ’s UK office in 1999. They now head up Freedom In Christ globally and are constantly amazed to see God opening doors all around the world. Freedom In Christ now works in around 40 countries.
Dr. Ifeoma Monye has a passion for preventing, treating, and, if possible, reversing the course of chronic diseases using the principles of “Lifestyle Medicine”. She has a passion to share how we can make simple lifestyle choices every day to live healthier and happier to pursue our purpose and fulfil our destiny. She divides her time between Nigeria and the UK. In Abuja, she is a Chief Consultant Family Physician at the National Hospital and founder of the Brookfield Centre For Lifestyle Medicine. She is the founding President of the African Lifestyle Medicine Association. In the UK, she works as a family doctor. Ifeoma is married with four children and enjoys serving in the intercessory group at her church.
