On 1 September this year, Steve Goss will step down as Executive Director of Freedom In Christ Ministries UK and Rob Davies will take over from him. This is to enable Steve to focus on leading Freedom In Christ Ministries International and to continue to spearhead the development of new resources to equip churches to make fruitful disciples. Steve will take a place on the board of FICM UK. Zoë, Steve's wife, will support Steve in his international role but will also remain in her current UK role alongside Rob where she masterminds the events programme.
Steve and Rob will be holding meetings all around the UK in the coming months to share the vision they have both nationally and internationally. They will be joined by Jess Regnart and Rod Woods to introduce two brand new resources, Freed To Lead (for Christians in leadership) and disciple (which is designed to equip churches to disciple the millennial generation of young adults in their 20s and 30s).
Steve and Zoë Goss started Freedom In Christ UK in 1999 and have seen it grow hugely - it's estimated that around 300,000 people have participated in the FIC Course which has been translated into over 20 languages. In 2012, Neil Anderson, the founder of the ministry, handed over the international leadership to them and there are now Representatives in well over 30 countries. Steve says, "It's been an amazing journey but it's the right time to bring someone else on board to take things forward. I'm certain that Rob is God's choice. He has a passion for discipleship and for raising up the next generation and I'm looking forward to seeing God continue to use us to equip churches around the country. I'm so pleased that I get to stay part of the fantastic UK team as a member of the Board and the Teaching Team."
Rob and Katharine Davies were first introduced to Freedom In Christ when their church ran the Discipleship Course in 2010. It proved the perfect preparation for the challenges of the mission field, and the awesome news of freedom and fruitfulness in Christ became a core part of their ministry in Uganda. Rob also attended the inagural Freed To Lead retreat and has seen first-hand how the freedom principles transform people, communities, and ministries. He says, "It's a wonderful privilege to take on the leadership of the FIC UK Team. I'm excited to see what God is doing with the incredible diversity of the UK church, and passionately believe that seeing her full of free and fruitful disciples will transform the world. I'm massively looking forward to equipping more churches and leaders in the UK with the amazing array of FIC resources, and can't think of anything better than enabling them to make disciples - disciples who just can't help being fruitful!"
